Free Bible Reading Tracker Printable

free bible reading tracker printable

For a while now my kids have been asking me to make them a way to track which books of the Bible they have read, so I have finally made one and thought I’d share with you my new free Bible reading tracker printable that you can use as a bookmark!

This printable is nothing super fancy…it is literally all the books of the Bible on a bookmark so that you can mark off each book of the Bible after reading it. But nonetheless, it is pretty helpful and so encouraging to use!

Why use a Bible Reading Tracker?

You may be wondering why it is helpful to use a Bible reading tracker or a Bible reading checklist of some sort. There are a few ways that I have found this helpful whether I am reading through the Bible using a Bible reading plan OR just reading random books of the Bible.

  • I have found it helpful to see my progress and to encourage me to keep on reading (especially if I’m reading through the Bible and am stuck in a rut of a certain section of what I’m reading). It is so encouraging to visually see how far you’ve come.
  • The Bible reading tracker is really helpful if you are reading random books of the Bible as it helps you to see what you have read and what you haven’t read in a long time. We all tend to have our favorite books of the Bible that we come back to time and time again, but tracking what we have read can help us to see the holes in our Bible reading. It points out which books you may have never read or haven’t read in a long time. It can stretch us to read the harder parts and dive in deep into the biblical storyline in places that we haven’t before.
  • It can keep you accountable to spend time in God’s Word as you track your way through the scriptures.
  • It can be a resource to use with a friend or a disciple as you read through God’s Word together!

Insert your other favorite reasons…there’s nothing complicated about this simple tool, but it can really be helpful! Looking for a more guided way to read through your Bible? Here are some suggestions I have loved in the past (before we get to the printable which will be at the bottom of the post)!

Favorite Read Through the Bible Plans:

The Bible Recap with Tara-Leigh Cobble
This plan is fantastic! It is a one year plan through the Bible chronologically. The reason this one stands out among others is that there is a podcast to go along with each day of reading. The podcast is a way to spend more time dwelling and meditating on what you just read and also gives you further resources to look into some of the questions you probably had about the passage.

Tara-Leigh does a great job of challenging you to dig deeper for yourself instead of just giving you all the information in the podcast. I appreciated reading the portion in the Bible in the morning and then a few hours later listening to the podcast. This was an excellent way to keep my mind fixed on what I had read that morning and allowed extra space for it to permeate my ever wandering heart throughout the day.

Find more details about this plan at the link above which will guide you to the different ways to follow this plan.

The Story of Redemption 1-Year Reading Plan
I am currently reading through the Bible using this plan and am loving it! This plan uses the ESV Story of Redemption Bible to specifically follow the biblical narrative of God’s big plan of redemption over the course of history. Throughout the plan there are short paragraphs helping to connect what you’re reading to the overall story of redemption and the epic story of Scripture. This plan is simple, yet profound. It has really helped me to connect the whole story together, especially in some of the more confusing parts of the Bible, reminding me of God’s faithfulness to His promises.

This plan is available through the ESV Bible app or ESV.org. You don’t need to have the actual Story of Redemption Bible to do the plan (unless of course you want to purchase it!). All the resources you need are on the app or website.

The Bible Project Bible Reading Plans
There are quite a few Bible reading plans from the Bible Project that will take you through the entire Bible, many of which are available from the Bible App if you search “Bible Project.” Each of their plans include a short video at the beginning of each book of the Bible giving you an overview of that book and how it fits into the grand narrative of scripture. Many of them include other helpful “theme” videos along the way to dig a little deeper. The Bible Project is an excellent resource that I would highly recommend that you check out!

The plan that I have linked above is particularly set apart from the others because it pairs each day with a Psalm to read and pray through as well. By the end of the plan you end up reading and praying through the Psalms two and a half times.

Other Encouragements…

I hope these plans along with the Bible reading tracker will help you to grasp the grand story of scripture and the plan of redemption that God has set forth. As you journey through God’s Word, I pray that God will reveal to you more about Himself and the plan He has for His creation and glory in all the earth.
